Kizconnect® gateways ACT FOR GREEN® labeled

December 22, 2022 / PRODUCT INNOVATIONS

Good news! The new Kizconnect® gateways from Overkiz, a member of the Somfy Group, have been awarded the famous ACT FOR GREEN® label. Here’s why that matters…

Somfy and Overkiz: Committed to energy performance

For Somfy and its subsidiary Overkiz, offering solutions that directly address climate and environmental issues is mission critical. Energy flows in homes and buildings are better managed through the motorization of openings and the automation and programming of connected devices, gateways, and apps.

Somfy’s recognition of its part in one of the industries responsible for the largest CO2 emissions—coupled with the lack of official certification for what it offers—prompted the company to take the rollout of its ACT FOR GREEN® eco-label to the next level.

What is ACT FOR GREEN®? A comprehensive ecodesign method for reducing the environmental impact of products, from the extraction of raw materials, manufacturing, and transport to use and end-of-life management.

“100% of Somfy and Overkiz products will be Act For Green by 2030.”

The optimal performance of Kizconnect® gateways…

The new Kizconnect® living room gateway and the Kizconnect® DIN Rail electrical panel gateway benefit from the combined expertise of both Somfy and Overkiz.

Overkiz, who launched the world’s first Zigbee 3.0 gateway, offers exceptional plastics, connectivity, and compatibility. Somfy achieves high levels of performance standards through its certifications, its safety, and now its ecodesign, having been awarded the ACT FOR GREEN® label.

… for a low impact

– A lower environmental footprint, transparently verified by an independent external organization (PEP Ecopassport®)

– Low energy use when the gateways are in standby mode (1.2 W)

– Verification by an external laboratory for compliance with environmental and health requirements based on the raw materials and substances used

– Product packaging free of polystyrene and PVC and favoring recycled and recyclable fibers

– Easy disassembly for recycling

The government’s goal of halving GHG emissions in the building sector by 2030 pushes the sector’s stakeholders toward non-stop innovation. Watch for new connected solutions for better energy performance coming to Overkiz in 2023 and beyond. To be continued!
