Overkiz Opens Its Ecosystem to the LoRaWAN® Protocol

8 Juni 2026 / PRODUCT INNOVATIONS

Overkiz is expanding its ecosystem with the LoRaWAN® protocol, a communication technology particularly well suited to Smart Home and Smart Building applications.

This new capability enables the rapid integration of LoRaWAN® devices into the Overkiz platform, delivering increasingly open, flexible, and interoperable solutions.

LoRaWAN®: A Protocol Designed for Connected Devices

LoRaWAN® (Long Range Wide Area Network) is a radio communication protocol designed for connected devices requiring:

  • – ultra-low power consumption,
  • – long-range communication,
  • – and reliable connectivity across residential and commercial environments.

This technology is particularly well suited to devices such as:

  • – door and presence sensors,
  • – energy monitoring solutions,
  • – building management equipment,
  • – indoor air quality monitors,
  • – and predictive maintenance solutions.

Thanks to its low power consumption, some devices can operate for several years on battery power while ensuring excellent network coverage, even in complex buildings.

A Platform Designed for Openness and Interoperability

The Overkiz platform architecture enables the rapid integration of a wide range of LoRaWAN® devices and gateways. The solution offers complete freedom in the choice of network infrastructure and equipment, without dependence on proprietary architectures

This approach enables Smart Home and Smart Building stakeholders to leverage their existing infrastructures while accelerating the deployment of new connected services.

As a result:

  1. deployments are simplified,
  2. device integration is accelerated,
  3. costs are optimized,
  4. and connected installations become more scalable.

A Multi-Protocol Ecosystem with Kizconnect Gateways

Combined with the Overkiz platform, Kizconnect gateways extend the connected ecosystem by integrating additional protocols already supported by Overkiz, including Zigbee, io-homecontrol®, RTS, and Wi-Fi.

Kizconnect boxes enable:

  • – multi-brand and multi-device control,
  • – scenario automation,
  • – interoperability between different protocols,
  • – and simplified management of connected devices within a single ecosystem.

With this new LoRaWAN® compatibility, Overkiz continues its open technology strategy, supporting the development of increasingly scalable Smart Home and Smart Building solutions.
